Oh my God!  That trip was amazing!  Everything flowed so smoothly, the accommodations were fantastic, the people were warm and helpful, the scenery was beyond words, the activities breath taking, the food was delicious, and the weather, well, it was exciting (thunder and lightening) and humid!  We loved it all!  I justwish we had more time there.  I will recommend your services to my friends.  I do want to comment on the punctuality of the drivers, they were always on time and did a great job.  They did go a little fast at times but they just wanted to get us to our destination quickly.  And the hotels were way above my expectations!  I especially enjoyed Arenal.  The lodge was perfect and I fell in love with that volcano and entire area.  The kids loved the beach of course.  And none of us will forget that zip line experience!  Thank you again for all you did for us.  I hope to send some business your way.

We just wanted to thank you for arranging such a fabolous trip for us.  Your native country is truly beautiful in both its natural landscape and its people.  We enjoyed all planned activities and all the people including guides, shuttle drivers, hotel workers, and even strong guys who humped our bags across waters in Drake Bay.

I just wanted to drop you a note to tell you that we had an absolutely wonderful trip and to thank you for all
your help and suggestions in putting it together. It was a truely memorable trip--one that we will all think about with fond memories for a long time.I think Paul was very impressed by everything (as we all were).  The accomodations were very comfortable and met all of our needs--they were all wonderful in their own way (I think my favorite was the Hotel Grano De Oro) just because I love old fashioned elegance.)  Arenal was incredible and our chalet had such a fantastic view!  Ocotal was a wonderful spot to spend the final days of our trip--we were very comfortable and felt so pampered with out very own jacuzzi pool right out our door as well as the beautiful ocean view.  The food was delicious, our transportation was always very prompt and got us to our next destination safely.  The activities were so much fun (even though Paul, Ashleigh and I ended up leaving our raft on the white water trip and not because we wanted to!!)  Our guide was great and the little kayak guys were right there to keep an eye on us until we were hauled back into the raft!!  It was one of the most exciting things we have ever done.  The Zip-Line was pretty incredible too--I would have never pictured myselt doing that!!  Everyone made you feel very safe and you were assured they would be right there if you needed them!  The fishing trip was exciting as well.  Paul managed to bring in a beautiful sailfish and Ashleigh got a marlin--we had a few other bites but they got away with the bait.  Even though Ben, Lindsey and I didn't catch anything it was so much fun watching Paul and Ashleigh!
I want to thank you again so much for all your help.  I can't remember ever going on such a memorable trip!  What a beautiful country and the people were very gracious, helpful, and so tolerant of our poor Spanish (I actually learned a fair amount while we were there and Ashleigh was doing well since she had a two week start on us)!
The only thing wrong with the trip is that it wasn't long enough!!  We will definately have to go back!  Thanks again so much!  If you are ever in Montana please look us up!
Best Regards,    Gerri Lyman

P.S.  Paul said several times on the trip how perfect everything was and he never comments about anything!!

"My girlfriend and I just got back from an amazing 12 day vacation in Costa Rica.  It was with your help and planning that we had such a great experience.  All of our drivers were on time to take us to various locations, our rooms were first rate and we couldn't have changed a thing.  When other agencies said there was no way we'd ve in Costa Rica for Christmas and New Year - you came through with a terrific package and the price was very affordable.
Thank you for making our first experience such a great one.  We look forward to working with you in the future and highly recommend the Costa Rican Connection to anyone planning a trip in the future."

"Just a quick note to say thank you.   We had a great trip to Costa Rica and have a long list of ideas for our next trip - Christmas 2007?  For me, the top three things were -
1. Arenal Observatory Lodge (Wow - Like being in a Postcard).
2. Tabacon Hot Springs (Expensive, by Costa Rica standards, but our evening visit was incredible).
3. A free guided walk through the jungle near Punta Leona at night (not for the faint of heart - tarantulas, scorpion spiders, and a fer-de-lance (a very poisonous snake) - very different from a night hike in the Rocky Mountains of North America).
My wife says she can die happy after seeing a sloth in the wild at Manuel Antonio National Park (one of those strange life goals!).
The whole trip  was wonderful, your suggestions were all very good,a nd the transfers that you arranged were perfect.  The drivers were nice, punctual to Swiss standards, and very accommodating.  We will return to Costa Rica and we will call The Costa Rican Connection when we start to plan our trip.

"My family and I had a wonderful vacation in Costa Rica. I want to thank you
and the Costa Rican Connection for setting us up with an excellent
itinerary. Everything was well arranged, and almost everything met or
exceeded our expectations. All the transports were on time, and the drivers
friendly. All the excursions were exciting and fun for the entire family.
You really helped us make the most of our time there, and see the wonders of
Costa Rica with out any stress or concern. I would highly recommend your
services to anyone looking for the same thing we were as a family traveling
to a raw country for the first time. We plan to go back at some point, as
we missed a few things due to time constraints. We will be sure to look you
up again when that time comes. Thank you again!"

"Just wanted to say what a wonderful time I had in Costa Rica! We
returned on Thursday, but were sad to come home. Thank you for helping
us plan such a great trip!

I had my binoculars out every day. I could not believe the beautiful
birds I saw even in the hotel gardens!

We enjoyed the tours you helped us plan; the trip to Rio Frio near Cano
Negra was so interesting and fun, as was our evening at the Tabacon Hot
Springs. The Sky Trek at Monteverde was scary-thrilling. We also set up
several short excursions on our own - a trip to the waterfall near La
Fortuna, a 2 hour night walk near Saint Elena, and a 2-hour tour with a
naturalist in the Monteverde Cloud forest.

And of course we spent some time shopping and enjoying great food. We
even prepared a Costa Rican recipe - breaded plantain - when cooking at
the beach house.

We relaxed at the Beach house near the end of the trip, and I
felt so well rested on my return to the US.

Thanks again."

"I wanted to tell you how much we all enjoyed the trip and
thank you. My favorite part was the river trip, but I liked all of the places
we went. Seeing the volcano erupt was spectacular. The brochures I left for
you are from the new botanic garden. It
was wonderful.  We'll refer people to you."

Sagar Damle, MD - Honeymoon

"The best part of this whole trip was having the ability to really tailor our vacation. We had checked out several other vacation packages to other places, epecially Europe, but there was really little flexibility. And typically, there was either too much downtime or too much running around. Working with the Costa Rican Connection gave us the opportuntity to plan a very balanced trip. We had just the right mix of relaxation time mixed with adventures or events. It was really a great experience and I can't wait to go back.

"Just wanted to let you know that we had a wonderful time in Costa Rica! We
especially want to thank you for rearranging our itinerary when we missed our
connection in Atlanta. Your quick handling of the situation made our lives so
much easier! Luis Quesada was at the San Jose airport waiting for us and he was
one of the best highlights of our trip. We learned so much from him about Costa
Rican culture. He was extremely warm and friendly, and a pleasure to spend time
with. When he discovered that Jack was a volunteer firefighter he even gave us
a tour of the local firehouse.

Monte Verde was fascinating. I forgot the name of the private reserve that is
owned by the Hotel El Sapo, but we learned so much from touring it. The tour
guide's knowledge and love of the rain forest was overwhelming.

My best experience was the turtle nesting. I never expected to get so close to
them and their size was shocking!

Cala Luna was a beautiful hotel and our villa was beyond expectations.

The people of Costa Rica were extremely friendly and relaxed and played a big
factor in the pleasure we experienced.

Thank you so much for your expertise and help in planning our trip. All the
connections were on time and hassle free. We'll be sure to recommend your
services to anyone we know who is planning a trip to Costa Rica!

"The trip to Costa Rica was amazing and very adventurous. The people were so friendly and everyone
made us feel very welcome. We made a lot of
requests and The Costa Rican Connection filled every one.

The two day rafting trip was first class. The accommodations exceeded our expectations. The staff was so helpful and were very knowledgeable.  The raft trip was an entire experience not just rafting.  The guides took us hiking, entertained us and showed us an excellent time.

By far the rappelling was the highlight. It was thrilling, scary and fun all at the same time. Our guides, Luis and Alex, taught us a lot about the area.  Luis was the owner of the hotel where we stayed, and it felt like we were his family. Anything we needed, Luis( In CR) helped us with!!

Overall this was a fantastic trip. There were no bad parts. The fact that all of the travel was preplanned helped a lot. We have traveled all over the world usually with no advance planning and this made the trip so enjoyable.

We never had to wait for transfers, if anything, they were waiting on us.
Our group definitely had apprehensions about all of the preplannning, but it was so great.

The Costa Rican Connection is the Best for any of your Costa Rica Travel Needs!!!"

"We all had a wonderful time, and have been having a lot of fun telling others about how great this vacation was. Your selection of places to see and things to do could not have been better. Especially impressive was the quality of the transportatiion. All our rides (plane and bus) were on time, and the drivers were especially friendly and helpful. The weather was
nearly perfect also, and we thank you for whatever part you played in that.

Peg and I and the Bigelows greatly appreciate all the work you did on our behalf. We consider this to be a very important part of our vacation. We will probably be able to send you some business from our friends and relatives."

Sue Bell, Psycologist

"I had the good fortune to travel to  Costa Rica this past June.  I typically enjoy planning my own trips but felt a time crunch and sought the expertise of the Costa Rica Connection.  I had also just recently recovered from a broken leg and was going to be a single woman traveling alone.  I did not want to give up the trip due to the limitation of my leg but felt that I needed guidance in terms of planning a trip that would leave me feeling safe and able to get around, but not lacking in adventure.  The Costa Rican Connection listened to the criteria that I had established for the trip and proceeded to map out a very satisfying  itinerary for me.  One of my favorite things that I did was white water rafting just outside of San Jose.  The company that they chose was very well organized, the guides playful and well informed and the rapids were great.  The Costa Rican Connection also arranged for all of my transportation and lodging which allowed me to concentrate on my trip and enjoying myself.  Most enjoyable was Montana de Fuego near Arenal Volcano.  The views were stunning and the spa treatments, with howler monkeys providing music, were excellent.  I confidently recommend using The Costa Rican Connection for establishing travel arrangements to Costa Rica.  You can trust that you will be in well informed and good hands."

"Matt and I meant to email you right after we got back to let you know we had an awesome time on our trip!  You did a great job picking out activities for us and we loved each place we visited!  We saw monkeys, sloths and many other animals.  The prearranged transfer to all of our activities/new locations made everything very easy for us.  Thank you very much for all your help.  We will highly recommend The Costa Rican Connection to our friends."

Bruce Muller, Instructional Designer

"The most memorable parts of our trip was experiencing the diversity of ecosystems of Costa Rica and the genuine caring that the Ticos show towards their land."
"Our trip to Costa Rica had a much more authentic feel than may of our other oversea trips. We visited some of the more remote areas of the country and really enjoyed seeing the less touristy areas. We had 15 days which was split into 3 parts: 4 days in the Puerto Viejo area, 5 days on the Osa Pennisnsula, and 6 days driving to Monteverde,
Rincon de la Vieja, and Volcan Arenal. The Costa Rican Connection, was great at listening to the type of trip we wanted and guiding us in the right direction. Based on what we were looking for, they suggested great places to stay that matched our needs. They took care of all of our reservations and payments making it a hassle-free trip."

Kathy Ramirez,  PhD

"The Costa Rican Connection did a great job helping us plan our trip to Costa Rica. Our trip was coming up really fast and we just couldn’t find the time to make plans. We were too busy to read a travel book or work on making reservations. And we didn’t want to waste time in Costa Rica trying to figure where to go. So we contacted The Costa Rican Connection to help us out. They conducted an interview to find out what type of trip we were looking for. They then presented a proposed trip based upon the interview and their knowledge of the country. All of the hotel and transport reservations were made for us. They also scheduled some activities that they thought we would be interested in and left some time open for exploring on our own. All and all, it was a great trip and they saved us so much time."

"[Our most memorable experience was] white water rafting the Pacuare River.... What an absolutely fabulous adventure. The river was so exciting with Class IV rapids coming one after another with very little down time. And the River Lodge….WOW….what an incredible and unique place. The cabins were so romantic and the food was gourmet. The guides were so safe and knowledgeable. We felt like we were always in good hands and well taken care of. I think I would go back to Costa Rica just to do this trip again. It was well worth every penny."

"This trip was unique because in addition to having cultural experiences, it was a trip of adventures, beautiful beaches, and great natural experiences.  It was also a form of responsible tourism, Eco-Tourism. It became quite clear to us that our presence in Costa Rica, along with other tourists, was helping to protect the rain forest of this country. "

"When you travel, please try to choose destinations where spending your money will help lead to our Earth’s protection rather than destruction. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if Eco-Tourism was just as safe and feasible to the Brazilian Amazon rain forest!!"

Wendy Zerin, MD

"Local pediatrician Wndy Zerin may not be the adventurous type, but last yar she found herself dangling upside down hundreds of feet above a Costa Rican rainforest, flying through the trees on a zip-line as her 10 year old son, Max. laughed in disbelief.  'Oh my God, it was scary for me', Zerin says.  'If you'd told me I'd be doing this, I'd have said you were crazy.... but I looked around and there were people older than me who were doing it, so I went ahead."  "Zerin had been planning to take Max to Costa Rica after he did a school project on the rainforest."  When she first heard about The Costa Rican Connection, she said "that's what we need - a Costa Rican connection ....that is where I wanted to book my trip."  "Max didn't try any coffee when he was there but he was a big fan of the virgin strawberry daiquiris, especially the ones he sipped while lounging in a hot spring, watching a nearby volcano erupt."
Abstract from Boulder Magazine, Summer 2004.

Emily Cosmos, Teacher

"As I leaned back over the edge of a 110-meter drop-off next to a sparkling waterfall that splashed from the trees above, I thought, 'Am I really about to rappel down this thing?!'  But the ropes seemed sturdy, the guides extremely knowledgeble and trustworthy. Something in the reassuring smile of the young man clipping me in let me know that it would OK. It was more than OK. It was amazing. Sitting in the harness and lowering myself down on the ropes, I watched the beauty around me and knew this was something I'd never forget. A tiny butterfly flitted nearby,  I could see each detail of foliage on the mossy, wet rock face, and cool spray from the waterfall next to me cooled me in the warm sun. When I was back on solid ground again twenty minutes later, the blue-green pool and slick rocks were just as beautiful up close as they'd been from above. The hike back up was a little steep, but more than worth it!

"More than anything else, I was really taken by the genuinely good-natured friendliness of the people we met in Costa Rica. I would never have thought that traveling in another country could feel so easy and natural. It gave me a glimpse of a whole different approach to living, one where family, kindness, and enjoyment of small pleasures takes precedence over the "big pressures" that we more often emphasize in the U.S. We had more "real" conversations with people as we traveled than I expected and certainly more than on other trips we've taken. Even when no one spoke English (and with our minimal understanding of even basic Spanish), we were able to communicate quite well with our hosts about more than just basic needs, learning a lot about the culture and life in Costa Rica."

"We spent two weeks traveling, using an itinerary designed by The Costa Rican Connection for our needs. We wanted some mountains, some beach, some outdoor activities. With that minimal information, The Costa Rican Connection set us up in a lovely mountain town with a memorable host who was not only the small hotel's owner, but who became our guide. When our scheduled tour seemed pleasant but not quite rugged enough, our host arranged to have a friend take us on a longer hike. After our stay there, we spent a few days near the famous Arenal, which truly lived up to the ideal of a volcano, complete with views of sputtering lava at the top. Finally, The Costa Rican Connection steered us to one of the most beautiful beaches that was still accessible enough for us to fit it into our itinerary and make it back to the airport for our inevitable departure. The beach itself was one of idyllic beauty that would be mobbed with people if it were located anywhere in the U.S., Europe, or Mexico. Instead, we were often the only people on it. We would surely never have found all of these lovely spots without The Costa Rican Connection."

"This year, our planned trip is to Vietnam. We only wish we had a "Vietnamese Connection" as great as you were for Costa Rica!! "

 Amy Bubar,  Clinical Specialist

"My most memorable experience occurred after arriving in La Fortuna from San Jose. It was a bit cloudy so we could see only the base of Arenal. That didn't deter us from hiking, canopy tours, shopping in town, and enjoying the beautiful scenery around the area. At night we took advantage of Tabacon for a soak in the fabulous natural hot springs. As we were soaking in the natural thermal springs we looked up to see flowing down Arenal glowing orange lava with the occasional pyrotechnic explosions. It was truly a beautifully unusual sight."

"I wanted to plan a dream vacation to Costa Rica for myself and 2 of my east coast friends, all of which are very diverse people. The Costa Rican Connection was very good at determining our interests and offering several different itineraries for us to choose from that would incorporate a combination of adventure and relaxation. We decided on an active couple of days around the Arenal area and then migrated out to the lower Nicoya Pennisula for a few days on the beach."

Shireen Beckman, Psycotherapist

     "
I took a 3 1/2 week trip to Costa Rica in August 2004 with my two children ages 8 and 11. We went to study Spanish for two weeks and vacation with my husband for the  final week.  The Costa Rican Connection sent us to the Poas Volcano area for the weekend in between our weeks of school. That weekend was one of our trip highlights. The climate change to something cooler was much appreciated. We stayed at Volcano Lodge which is also a dairy farm and got to help the dairyman milk the cows. The volcano and the nearby butterfly farm were both fun trips. In part what made it work so well was the transportation the Costa Rican Connection organized.  San Jose does not have clear street signs so my plan to drive us there would have been extremely stressful.  I was glad we followed The Costa Rican Connection's advice."
"Our trip plane to Tortuguero was a great way to get into that remote park. Walking on the beach at night to see the green see turtles was a once in a lifetime experience. We always laugh about our tiny guide who grabbed by 8 year old son by the arm and set off down the beach in pitch blackness. She didn't want him to get lost and she wanted to make sure our group got to see a turtle. She was clearly proud of those turtles."
    "
Waking to the calls of the howler monkeys in the forest near Manzanillo and watching the sloths move ever so slowly are also favorite memories."
" I have traveled extensively in New Zealand, Australia and have lived in the Caribbean and the Middle East. I loved my experience in Costa Rica and credit The Costa Rican Connection and his partnership with an in country travel agency with the success of this major trip of this type with my family."

Leo Carrillo, retired Chief of Police

"My wife and I spent 10 days in Costa Rica about 4 years ago. We enjoyed the country and especially the people. We both said that when we retired we were going to return to Costa Rica for an extended stay. So in 2004 we were both retired and we did return. We stayed at the beach in a beautiful house with our maid Sylvia, our own swimming pool and all that went with it. We also made some side trips that were set up by The Costa Rican Connection, they all went off perfectly. "

"Our house maid and her 6 year old daughter were the two most wonderfull people whom we just fell in love with. They invited us to their home for a birthday party for the daughter and we met some of the family and neighbors who were wonderfull people. "

"It is the most memorable trip that we have ever had.  I would highly recommend the Costa Rican Connection to anyone who wants a memorable vacation in Costa Rica. "
