Events
The following are
events that are celebrated by local people:
January
-Palmares festival is celebrated during the first
two
weeks of january. People enjoy live music, local food,
horses parade and a carnival.
February
-The Puntarenas carnival is celebrated with local
food,
music, etc.
-The Liberia Festival is celebrated with food, music
and
a horse parade.
March-April
-Holy week is celebrated with processions and people
take some time to relax and vacation at the beache.
April
-Parades on Apirl 11th in honor of the Costa Rica's
Heroe Juan Santamaria.
June
-Father's day celebratrion on the third sunday of
june.
July
-Liberia's celebration of Guancaste annexation to
Costa Rica on the 25th.
August
-On the August 2nd Costa Ricans honor the Virgin of
Los
Angeles with a pilgrimage to the Basilica in Cartago.
-On the 15th mother's day is
celebrated .
September
-On September 15th Costa Ricans celebrate their
independence day. Children parades can be seen all around Costa
Rica.
October
-Limon has a whole week of celebration with music,
parades, food.
-October
12th is Columbus Day, and a holy day.
November
-November 2nd is the day of the dead and families
remember their deseased ones by visiting them at the
cementary.
December
- The whole month is for christmas celebrations and on the
last week of december people usually take some vacation at the
beach. In downton San Jose the celebration is done with
horse parades and carnivals.
