Get ready for an adventure unlike anything you have ever done before. You will never be the same! We start with a 45 minute drive to the private farm where the caves are located. Upon arrival you will be given a flashlight & helmet, and fitted for rubber boots (size 11 or larger must wear their own shoes). Your expert bilingual naturalist guide will start with a brief history of the caves. A short hike later and you are standing in amazement at the river flowing from the cave entrance. There are no lights or walkways, so you will feel as if you are the first person to discover them. Turn on your flashlight, jump into the river, and watch out for those spiders on the walls! There is no turning back now. It’s a little difficult to walk up the river, but that’s just part of the adventure. Be prepared to squeeze through small holes, crawl through tight passages, climb small rock formations, crawl on your stomach with only your head above water in a narrow tunnel as fish swim by, or walk up small waterfalls. Feel the air move around your face as of bats fly just above your head. Notice how they have carved their nests out of solid rock. We seldom lose a tourist! Enjoy the numerous stalactites, stalagmites, coral, and chimneys as you journey back in time. The “Papaya” formation is spectacular. This is an experience you will never forget! Recommended only for GOOD fitness levels.
