Areas around the Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal are fantastic for serious bird watchers. An expert bilingual naturalist guide will find a wide variety of species for birders. Birds are most active early in the morning and in the late afternoon as the day cools into evening. You are most likely to see toucans, parrots, oropendolas, colorful tanagers and parakeets. For the more experienced birdwatcher, we can focus on seeing royal flycatchers, white-fronted nun birds, cinnamon woodpeckers and other less commonly seen species.
